Canonball Run brings auto-excitement to Wexford

More than €23 million worth of some of the finest cars on the planet lined up on Wexford Quays when the Canonball run arrived in Wexford town on Sunday, September 13.

The Canonball arrived in Wexford at around 6 p.m., regrouping at the county council headquarters on the Newtown Road before travelling in convoy via Hill Street, Westgate, Main Street, Henrietta Street and down to Common Quay, where the cars were parked for public viewing for an hour before departing for White's and the Talbot hotels.

The Canonball, which raised much needed funds for the Make a Wish Foundation, finished up in Wexford after an 820km drive through Dublin, Leitrim, Sligo, The Wild Atlantic Way, Killaloe, Killarney, and Cahir.

Sponsored by Manhattan Popcorn, 180 supercars took to the road including a Pagani Zonda, Keonigsegg and Carrera GT as well as McLarens, Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Aston Martins, Porsches, Masseratis, Rolls Royces and Bentleys.

Soap stars Ryan Thomas, from Coronation Street, and Adam Thomas, from Emmerdale, joined other celebrity canonballers Boyzone star Shane Lynch, Dirty Sanchez, heart throbs Mat Peacock and Wes Quirke, celebrity chef Rachel Allen, Rugby ace Mick Galwey, Model Emma Quinlan and many more.

Cannonball never disappoints in the celeb stakes and the notorious NYPD, German Polizei, Fr Willie and colourful Canonballers in crazy costumes add to the melee.
